The series would have designs similar to 2015's Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon and the series would have a Young Justice-style of animation.Ī small group of Autobots- Ultra Magnus, Ironhide, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Sunstreaker, Jazz, and Bumblebee-are stationed on Earth, in an attempt to prevent the Decepticon cell from activating their "infiltration protocol", but there turns out to be more than meets the eye to the Decepticon's plans than previously thought. In this series, as it's a modern iteration of an animated Transformers animated series, most Transformers' right forearms have the ability to morph/transform into a blaster/cannon.
Also, as this series is a spiritual successor and/or reboot of the original cartoon, some of the human cast will come directly from the original cartoon series such as: Spike Witwicky and Carly Spencer. Similar to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, each season would contain several individual arcs that would all lead into one another. With the series focusing more on the war between the Autobots and Decepticons, the series needs a much more serious tone, but the show would still retain its "fun" factor as well. The tone of the series would be more serious than previous Transformers cartoons. It would also feature several "spotlight" episodes for specific characters. The story would primarily take on Earth, but would also feature the Autobots occasionally traveling to different planets as needed. And I think (if your like me) you'll get to the point with the podcast that you'll wish you were part of the conversation and analysis which is really a compliment to TFG1Mike and the rest of the cast. They also do take into account that the show is written with G1 fans in mind but also has to compromise for the children viewers.įor me this is a fun podcast to listen to, I get a few laughs and get a few "ah ha!" moments when they mention some of the references that I missed. Though I used the word "conversation" they do have organized topic points that they adhere to covering different aspects of the episodes they are talking about in thier analysis of the episode.Īnd once again if they don't like something they will say it, but don't focus on the negative too much.
You can expect an un-filtered converstion from the crew and are great at pointing out all the references to previous series that a G1 fan would enjoy. They certainly don't just comment "that's not how it's supposed to be" or "that's not how it was." So overall they are pretty objective and fun to listen to. It really comes from the point of view of a G1 fan looking at this new series, but I have to say they are pretty open minded and just don't trash the series like many of the old school TF fans do. And it was no surprise that they decided to follow up with a Transformers Animated Podcast considering they covered every other Western incarnation of Transformers worth talking about. Have to say that there is little out there that escapes GCRN's scrutiny.
